Welcome to Elderwise - Southeast Michigan

Elderwise is an independent, member-driven organization offering learning experiences and camaraderie for the over-fifty community in Southeast Michigan.

It was formed in 1992 by representatives of Eastern Michigan University in collaboration with a group of adults interested in developing a continuing education program.

Elderwise offers:

Elderwise Annual Meeting and Luncheon

Please join us at this special lunthtime event to celebrate our ongoing success as a provider of continuing education for seniors. We will also show our appreciation to Elderwise instructors, who have given so freely of their time and talent to provide us with an amazing variety of courses and classes.

Results of the Elderwise Ballot will also be announced.

The Elderwise Spring Opener

Join us as we look forward to Spring 2010! You will have the opportunity to sign up for Spring classes, enjoy delicious food, socialise with old friends and make new ones.

Entertainment will be provided by Joel Palmer, guitarist, singer, teacher and songwriter. His music will make you want to tap your feet and sing along.

All Elderwise members, non-members and guests are welcome.

This is a free event.

Spring Program Begins

The Elderwise Spring 2010 Program begins on Monday, April 5, 2010

Elderwise offers a lifelong learning program to the over fifties community in South East Michigan and there’s something to appeal to everyone, including art, literature, travel, media studies, history, biographies, film, music, science, health issues and more – 35 different classes this semester in all! Expect interesting, reasonably priced classes, lively discussion and a lot of fun.

Futuring Session 2009

Elderwise held its Futuring Session on September 29, 2009.

Leadership and Elderwise members met for the day in order to assess Elderwise's performance and also to set new goals for the next few years.

Four main areas were discussed in depth: Curriculum, Membership and Publicity, Technology and Leadership.

Suggestions and ideas coming from the Futuring Session will now be evaluated and responded to by the Elderwise Council.

Remember there is always at least one free class, per semester, offered to Elderwise Members. The free Spring class was a Tour of the new UMMA and 45 members attended! Look out for the next free class in the Fall 2009 brochure, which will be distributed in August.

Let me tell you about the organization I work for – Elderwise; a group of seniors with an unquencable thirst for knowledge and a passionate desire to provide learning opportunities for other like-minded seniors in Southeast Michigan.

Fall Brochure

The Fall Kick Off will take place on August 20, 2009, from 1-3 p.m. when new classes offered in the Fall Program will be showcased. Entertainment and deicious home made buffet provided.
